Microsoft has temporarily pulled the MSI 3.1 redistributable from their web site because of compatibility issues with certian applications. The knowledge base article with release notes has also been removed. The redistributable should be re-released "very shortly".

The funny thing is we were just talking about WFP at work the other day. It seems that Microsoft HIS 2000 SP1/2 is installing components that started being protected with Windows XP SP2. We sent an email to Microsoft and a HIS developer replied with a comment that showed he didn't understand MSI and how it interacts with WFP. Hopefully the verbage of the workaround in this KB article will make him see what he was missing. Until then, thank God for transforms.
