Hello,

If a setup fails with an error, this error is issued in a message box (for the appropriate UILevel) and written to the MSI log file (if available).

Is it possible to somehow write this failure-causing error to an external file? I have not found anything like an "On Error" mechanism.

Aren't errors also written to the Event Log? If so, you can get to that through various automation routes.
