Does anyone know how to keep an installed file from being repaired after it has been deleted by the application? This file needs to stay deleted as it indicates whether or not the trial version has expired.

Make sure it's not the keypath for it's component (use something that won't be deleted), and set the msidbComponentAttributesNeverOverwrite bit (128) in the attributes column of the component table.

Conditionalize the component. Use condition "NOT Installed". This way the file will only be installed once and won't ever get repaired.
