We have a project that uses the Install Shield v2.03 Windows installer edition and we need to figure out our best course of action going forward. Does anyone know if there is an upgrade path from ISWI v2.03 to the current versions of the product or will we have to scrap the install and start over?

Also, it probably wouldn't be a problem for us to stay with ISWI v2.03 except that we can't find a copy of it to install on our new build machine to build the installer.

Thanks,

Adam

You should be able to import your project in InstallShield 12 Professional or Premier. It will show up as a "Basic MSI" project. Of course you need to test thoroughly to make sure everything is still working properly. But basically it should work as it is the same project type, just evolved over eight InstallShield releases. (You can use the evaluation copy to test the conversion). Note that the premier edition inlcudes 10 stand-alone build licenses, i.e. in addition to your development machine you can install the command line builder on up to 10 build machines for nicghtly builds for instance. The professional edition does not include these stand alone build licenses.

When upgrading you will have to pay the full price for IS 12. The reduced upgrade price is only valid for users who have version 8 or higher.
