I've been under a quandary.  I'm trying to figure out if we should create an installation which prompts the user about everything(configuration item) in the world or generate a post installation configuration application.  I have a lot of reasons for the post installation configuration application:

1) Simplify the installation
    a) less custom actions
    b) less conditions
    c) easily execute silent mode without user input.
2) Configuration program can execute several times after the installation.

I guess I'm wondering how people the wonderful people out in internet land there have solved this problem.

To prompt or not to prompt, that is the question?

Unless you're creating an SDK or something else specifically for developers, the less the user has to choose/decide/know,  the better. Just put it on the box. ;-)

(one opinion)
