I have recently needed to convert my legacy application(s) to .msi (2.0). However, we also support upgrades and runtime overinstalls.

We don't have any issues with the fresh installs or the .msi to .msi overinstall. However, when attempting to "update" legacy files (new version, new date, etc), the msi actually creates a duplicate directory of the previous install with the new files ( C:\test and a C:\test)...this is quite interesting because we are using Win2k, which doesn't support duplicate directory names.

Am I missing something? Is there no way to update legacy files with an MSI ?!?

So you mean that after you install you end up with 2 folders, each one called c:\test?
