We are new to creating installations delivered over the web and we have several Web installs on a single server. When our QA team selects a specific installation for installation at the same time we have notice that the time it takes to download and install increases by a factor equal to the number of simulations hits. For example installation A takes 1 minute to download and install by a single user. If 5 users select the same installation at the same time the download and installation takes 5 minutes for all the 5 users. Is this expected or are there server settings or MSI settings that might improve this performance or is a web server farm required?

Do you run msiexec with a http target, or do you download the whole install package and run it locally?
Looks like each user locks the file exclusively. Not sure if that's a limitation of msi, or your downloader.exe, or your server configuration.
