hello
I am trying to use check box instead of "feature image" in custom setup.
i have tried various approaches (without using script) and found out that selection tree object has a property call "Other Window Styles".
one of optoin is TVS_CHECKBOXES. i thought this is the flag to change displaying method in custom dialog. however, this is not working.
(1) what are these window style options for?? it doesn't do anything at all!!
(2) is there a way that i can use check box in basic msi??

I don't think this is possible with msi's built in UI capabilities. You would have to create an external UI.
