I'm a newbie in MSI developement.
I have created the Othello sample according to "Getting started ...". I can build and validate my project but I'm not able to run in. The setup is always stopped with the following message:
"This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."
I do not have any idea what I have to do to create a valid Installer Package.
Regards, Michael

Make sure your MSI file isn't open in Orca when you launch the setup. (Orca lockes the file)

What is Orca? Is the IDE called Orca?
In case Orca is the IDE what are the "Test..." and "Run..." functions for if the file is locked while working in the IDE.
By the way I should have mentioned that I use version 1.1. Does your suggestion apply to Version 1.1 as well?

I didn't notice you are using InstallShield. Orca is not the IDE, it's a MSI databse editor from Microsoft.
What I said does not apply to the InstallShield IDE.
