How do I add new feature when upgrade by reinstalling. I'm using a basic MSI and Dev 7.0. The upgrade paper (http://www.installsi.../Upgrading.html) says that I can use ADDLOCAL in Setup.ini to add new feature.
I have this line
CmdLine=REINSTALLMODE=vaums REINSTALL=ALL ADDLOCAL=newfeature

the new feature (newfeature) is still not installed after the upgrade. What should I do?
thanks

Hmm, I don't have any experience with minor upgrades, I always use major upgrade. However: maybe enumerate the features to reinstall in the value for "REINSTALL" instead of using REINSTALL = ALL ?

What Glytzhkof says is correct. REINSTALL would override ADDLOCAL. The steps to need to take depend on the MSI runtime version you are using (1.x or 2.x). For more details see "Update Rules" at http://www.installsi...msi/updates.htm

Thanks for the info. Version of my msiexec is 2.0.2600.1106, so I suppose MSI is 2.0. Unlike what the paper (http://www.installsi...msi/updates.htm) says, my upgrade only works when I specify: REINSTALL=ExistingFeature1,ExistingFeature2 ADDLOCAL=newfeature.

REINSTALL=ALL does not work for me

Did you set the new feature's Remote Installation property to "Favor Parent" and its Required property to yes, and it didn't get installed?

That works, but it requires that the new feature is added as a subfeature. When I add the new feature under the root, it does not work. Thanks.
