Is IS 6.1 sufficient for an installation under Windows XP?
Are there any "traps" in Windows XP absolutely demanding IS 7?

Thank you for your help.

A common question.

No, you nee dent IS 7, but you definitely should downloads the updates to get to IS 6.31 so you can properly support Windows XP.

Afterwards also be sure and select Windows XP as a valid OS in the project settings.

Hello TacoBell00,

Thanks for your advice. The main consideration was whether GetSystemInfo()
in IS 6.1 recognizes Windows XP correctly as an OS of the NT group and
whether there are any difficulties with file transfer to system directories,
writing to the registry, and creating program icons regarding permissions and file protection mechanisms.

I couldn't find a download for IS 6.31 that updates an IS 6.1.
As I got it, the downloads only upgrade within IS 6.1 / 6.2 / 6.3.

XP will be recognized as member of the NT family. If you want to distinguish between 2000 and XP you'll have to look at WINMINOR (XP is version 5.01 while 2000 is 5.00)
The update from 6.0 -> 6.1 was free
The update from 6.1->6.2 was not free
The update from 6.2->6.3 is free
The update from 6.x->7.0 is not free

Hello Stefan,

Thanks for the tip about the version number of Win XP as 5.01 and the update history of IS 6. Brings a bit more clarity in the matter.
