Hi, I am trying to repackage winzip 8 into a MSI. I have repackaged a
install and then built the msi in author. But after installing winzip via my
MSI , when I load winzip for the first time it come up with a message saying
that winzip is not currently associated with zip files.

I have checked the registry and cannot find what is missing. I have tried
snapshotting the just the file assocations setup(when i click yes to
assocciate after getting the above message)  and comparing the registry
entries between that snapshot and the currently MSI installed version of
winzip and they are identical.

Has anyone else had any problems with this?
TIA
James

Well, it turns out that the registry entries are not identical. The repackager program has missed registry entries completely and incompletely copied some.

James,

I have struggled with this issue on Winzip file association problems for a week now.  How did you resolve this issue in the registry?  Please let me know,  Thanks, katie

I have the same behaviour with my WinZip8.msi built with another repackaging tool. I haven't yet tried repackaging it with ISAS2. What registry keys were missed?

Don't know if it is actual yet... I had this problem too... It turned out, that the problem was that the original installation wrote a shortpath to the registry and the msi-package wrote the full path.... That's all... If you want details, ask here...
Little bit late, I know, but hey, I gave my best...  ;)

HELP, I'm going through the same issues here and understand many have created successful MSI from WinZip.  What's the trick?  Can anyone clue me in on what to do to get this issue fixed?
