Hi:
I have to install a file during self repair. But after launching the shortcut the Windows Installer is asking for the source of the MSI. I dont want users to point to the source as they dont have access to it. How can I get around it? The file should be installed to users My Documents folder. Thanks.
Steve

Ideally, your users should have access to the original source, but here's the trick anyway...
Copy the file to a machine location initially, and then use a "DuplicateFile" table entry to make the profile-based copy during self repair. Remember that the keypath fo the "user" component should be an HKCU registry key.

I hadn't realised it was such an old post!!
Anyway, it might help someone else out at a later date.
