My package version 1.0 uses MSI 2.0. Version 1.1 uses MSI3.1. Can i have a service pack to upgrade from 1.0 to 1.1 ? Wanted to know if a service pack can hold major changes like change in MSI schema.

A service pack is defined as a minor update. Look into MSI SDK to ckeck if your changes are result in the guidelines for minor updates (http://msdn.microsof...roduct_code.asp). I didn't understand your question with schema changes. The package schema is not different between V2 und V3.x.

Thanks for the reply. Let me explain my question,
My packages adhere to minor upgrade rules in all ways. The only point am concerned about is that the 2 versions of the package support different MSI versions. This being the case, can i still have a service pack to upgrade from pkg version1.0 to pkg version1.1?
