While running a test install of a installshield created MSI package, the installation dies in mid-install and now every time I try to install or uninstall I get an error that says something along the lines of “Installation Pending”. This is preventing anything from being installed or uninstalled on that machine. And I cannot get it to complete the installation.
And of course, this happened on my boss’s machine while he was checking out my work….
Does anyone have any ideas?

hi,
it is possible that a file rename is required and that it can only be performed on reboot. try rebooting the system to allow any stacked rename on reboot operations to occur.
check the registry for the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
check for any PendingFileRenameOperations values in this key.
hope that helps...
