I´m trying to add a string to the existing path of a computer. I´ve tried a Custom action with calling a DOS utility called PATHMAN but I haven´t bee succesfull yet. To me this seems to be a "wrong" way of doing this. There must be a better way, maybe you know one?

In the Environment table add the entry:

Key: Any Unique Value
Name (of Environmental Variable): =-*PATH
Value: [~];[STRINGPROPERTY
Component: Component associated with change

For a full explanation of the additional symbols see "Environment Table" in the MSI help.  Briefly:

=Set during the installation
*Environment Variable
- Remove when component is removed
[~};append a value to the end of an existing variable
