Hi,
I am trying to create an MSI patch for our product. I have created the required PCP file. I have the modified the ProductCode for my UpgradedImages.
But when I execute the MSIMSP.exe with required parameters, it gives following error -
Failed to create patch. Error code: 0xC00E5177
The log file has following entry -
ERROR: UpgradedImages.Upgraded = 'FirstUpgrade': ProductCode is not a valid GUID.
Can you please tell me what could be the problem?
Thanks

Can you post your ProductCode, is it a valid Windows Installer GUID (i.e. all letters in upper case)?
Note that changing the ProductCode mean that your are performing a Major Upgarde which in general should be created as full .msi file, not as .msp patch. Patches are more appropriate for Small and Minor Updates.

HI Stefan,
Thanks for the quick response. We are planning to do a small update. I changes the product code instead of package code (I had a wrong understand that both the codes are same)
I changed the Package Code and things are working fine.
Thanks again1
