When I select the feature in the Custom Setup dialog, the help text to the right says it requires "512bytes" (sic).
Surely the merge module cost should be added into this value?

I have feature which consists of a registry-only component, and an in-house 75Mb merge module.

What's the destination directory for the files in the module?

The destination in the merge module is ".", and this is set to a Directory entry by my project. It ends up being installed to the correct location.
