what is the purpose of the UninstallString value found in the registry under
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Uninstall/<GUID>
i thought that this value is where Add/Remove programs pulled the uninstall information from but it doesn't seem to be the case. i tried replacing the value with just "notepad" and the uninstall still launched.

I literally just performing the same experiment and I found that unless the WindowsInstaller value is set to 0 the UninstallString is ignored... Maybe this is the case for you, hope this helps...
