I would like to know how I can remove a particular file from my System32 folder before installing a new file. What function within Installshield 6.1 can perform this task?

The built-in functions for IS will NOT delete system files.
Instead, you'd have to resort other means like running a batch file and passing the filename as parameter which the batch file will in turn delete (i.e. del %1 /F /Q).

Yeap, as Stefan indicated, for any other (non-system) folder you can use the built-in DeleteFile function call for IS. For more information, check the help.
