Hi,I am Japanese. I am developing msi file using with Orca.
Please tell me why prompt for "insert disk" appears in following cases.

case 1:
1) Install from local HDD.
2) Install from CD-ROM where different directory defined in MEDIAPACKAGEPATH property.

case 2:
1) Install from CD-ROM or other media (such as USB memory stick).
2) Move msi file from 1) to other CD-ROM directory .
3) Install from 2).

I've tried "Updates & Patches" topics in this site.

I apologize for my poor English.

I think that's a limitation in Windows Installer. The file should be at the root of the CD

Thank you Stefan.

...but I cannot understand installer's behavor.

I found MEDIAPACKAGEPATH property allows msi file does not need in root of removable media.
So I thought I can install application from any directory in media at first time.
But second time (re-install same package from different directory), in the log, Windows Installer
looks like searching original source package which used in first time, and failed to find.
Why Installer does not use locally cached msi file in %SYSTEMROOT%\Installer?
Does "limitation" means something about security?

--- log: install from media and disk prompt appears

Hello all together!

Unfortunately the MEDIAPACKAGEPATH property works neither with WI 3 nor with WI 4.
On WI 3 I have the right zu manupulate the registry before Installfinalize reads the value but on WI 4 the deferred CA runs only after Installfinalize has read the Mediapackage value.
Can someone ask MS to give the MEDIAPACKAGEPATH property a chance in WI 4 SP1?

Regards!
Johannes
