Today i did my final tests with the MSDE2000 merge
module from InstallShield!!
This one works only with IS Dev. 7.03, but works fine
with named instances (my purpose). Even uninstall
worked to my surprise. So i'd like to use this situation
to write something else than a complain! LOL

I only wish i had waited some weeks to get this instead
of struggling with everything that was there before ???

If some of you are still looking for the solution on
installing MSDE2000 MM with IS 7.03, you can
download it here:
http://saturn.instal...glish/setup.exe

Good setup-ing!

Stefan,
Do you would know how to change the install destination for the MSDE 2000 MM.  The wizard that comes with the MSDE 2000 object in Developer 7.03 can't use [INSTALLDIR].

This is because the MSDE 2000 merge modules have seems to perform most of it's installation using Custom Actions. Unfortunately almost all of these Custom Actions are run very early in the InstallUISequence Table so by that time the values of INSTALLDIR or WindowsFolder are not yet resolved. So you HAVE to use a hardcoded path.

To create a named instance, create an new property in the Property Manager (second under Advanced Views, the last top level icon in the outline view) called SqlInstanceName.  Put the instance name under value, but do not prefix it with MACHINENAME\.
I'm also using the properties SqlSecurityMode and SqlCollation.

hello Stefan !

i'm wondering if the MM that u found for MSDE2000 can be used for ISWI 2.03 too ? i've checked out the InstallShield site, but there's not downloadable for ISWI 2.03.

So, i did take 'em from SQL 2000 Service Pack 2 CD, and tried to include 'em into my project, but there are some complains 'bout the same objects found in two different components from SEM.msm....

so, may i know where can i get the MM for ISWI, or any work arounds for this problem ?

hope to hear from u ASAP, thanx !
