There can be many reasons. Damaged CD. Anti-virus software. A virus or worm. Not enough space in the temp directory. Missing permissons.

I am using install shield for microsoft vc++ 6.0 to create an installation wizard for my project.
When i build that, it is creating a cab file called "data1"... but it seems to be corrupted, because i am unable to open and see that.

InstallShield's CAB format is different from Microsoft's CAB format. You cannot open these CABs by double clicking them.
