Eine von IBM geführte Gruppe von Firmen hat einen neuen Standard vorgeschlagen, um die Konfigurationsprobleme bei der Installation von Geschäftsanwendungen zu beheben. Diese XML-basierende Spezifikation unter dem Namen "Solution Installation for Autonomic Computing" stammt von IBM, Novell, InstallShield Software und Zero G Software. Die Spezifikation wurde am Donnerstag beim World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) eingereicht.
Die Spezifikation ist ein auf XML basierendes Dokumenten-Format, das angibt, welche Software benötigt wird, um eine Applikation auszuführen.

InstallShield for IBM Solution Installation
Macrovision hat ein neues InstallShield Produkt angekündigt, dass die neue Solution Installation for Autonomic Computing Initiative von IBM unterstützt. Das Produkt steht zum Beta-Test bereit.
