Hi,

I am working with Automation Interface in Basic MSI.


Features, Components and Files I create with appreciate InstallShield objects.

I can not create a ShortCut and place in spacial folder, but can not bind an Icon from my file.

I suppose, some information referenced below on Dynamic File Linking.

Can I create shortcut with Custom Icon with scripting in InstallShield X?

I suspect the reason in link between Icon table and Shortcut table.

Perhaps there any more WI tables in chain?

Additionally, I can bind new Shortcut with Icon from visual IDE, but from Project Assistant pane only.

If I try with Installation Designer or Direct Editor, Shortcut icon does not appear after installation.

I have an objective to add my special from Icon to Shortcut, here my actions in order:

1. Predefine Shortcut icon in WI database.
2. Open project from Automation Interface, create new feature and component.
3. Add Shortcut for this component
4. Link predefined icon to Shortcut.

Primary question: How can I bind predefined icon with Automation Interface?

Secondary question: Have I any more possible way to bind Shortcut with icon?

Tertiary question: How icon can be located in WI database? In icon table (like binary) only, or in file table (like file) too?
