This may seem like an odd question or one that is difficult to answer, but in your best estimation, how often are Transforms really used?

Basically we have an installation that sets various properties based on the parsing of a registration code via a VBScript. Other user specific features, components, etc. are then placed based on the various property values.

In other words, our customization is basically done via vbScript instead of having a core package modified by transforms.

Is there anything critically wrong with this approach?

Any opinion/insight will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

Transforms are heavily used for application repackaging done in larger corporations. We very often have to spend a lot of time debugging how a setup is implemented because everyone does things differently.
