Hi and thanks to everyone in advance who replies. I'm trying to figure out what resolution is required or works best for banner bitmaps. Do they have to be a certain color depth or resolution? like 400X100? Does anybody have an idea on what works best?
Or if somebody could just tell me what they used, and say this seems to work reasonably well.

Also What file format are allowed? *.JPG, *.GIF, *.PNG, etc..?

I would say size depends on screnn resolution of target system (what will your users have?). Color depth should be 16 or 256 IMO, else you will get ugly results on machines with low color depth (color depth of your image should be less than color depth of system).
