Hallo!

Ich nutze InstallShield Developer 8 und habe folgendes Problem:

Setup Programm A bindet Setup Programm B ein, als nested msi (mit Properties Settings "ADDLOCAL=ALL").
Programm A darf/soll/kann nicht bei "add/remove programs" auftauchen, Programm B aber schon.

Das funktioniert soweit, jedemfalls erscheint nur Programm B bei "add/remove".

ABER:

ein remove dort funtioniert nicht, der repair-button ist gar nicht vorhanden, obwohl er eigneltich sollte. (der change-button soll nicht)

des weiteren:
Wenn ich nach einer Erst-Installation von Programm A (inkl B ) aber Programm B aufrufe, so bekomme ich folgende Nachricht: "the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation"

Danach endet das Programm, aber eigentlich möchte ich gerne den Maintenance-Dialog sehen...

Wieso ist das so?
Kann man da was ändern?

Nested Install Custom Actions sind Mist und machen nur Probleme. Lass besser die Finger davon.

Wenn man sehr grosse MSI's mit vielen Dateien hat ist es recht mühsam Patches oder Updates zu machen. Ich hatte gedacht, dass evtl. nested MSI eine Lösung wären, ich würde aus dem großem MSI viele kleine MSI's machen, die könnte ich dann leichter patchen.

Aber wenn nested MSI's Mist sind lasse ich es lieber?

Da steht zunächst mal:
"Concurrent Installations, also called Nested Installations, is a deprecated feature of the Windows Installer. Applications installed with concurrent installations can eventually fail because they are difficult for customers to service correctly. Do not use concurrent installations to install products that are intended to be released to the public."

Und weiter unten:
"Developers should note the following warnings when authoring concurrent installations. ... Patching and upgrading may not work with concurrent installations."

Also Finger weg davon.
