After installing SP for office 2000 any office program disappears from the desktop after few seconds. What could be a problem?

Had this problem a few months ago. I can't remember exactly what the fix was. There was something about the license key written to the registry. Had to delete/rename it. There was an article on the Microsoft site that had details.
