Does anyone know how to get the name of the current logfile from within an active MSI. I was hoping to find the logfile name in one of the default MSI properties but I cant seem to find one.
I know you can specify the logfile name on the command line, but I dont want to do this so it is not overwritten with every install.

i had to set the logfile name to something constant and then write a CA that would copy that file (if found) to a unique backup file.

But wont the logfile be opened (and possibly cleaned) when you start the installer on the next run preventing you from making a copy of the file. Beyond that, if you copy it off at the end of an install wont you be missing the tail of the logfile?

You can specify the + parameter to tell Windows Installer to append to the existing log.
