Hi,
I have a basic msi project which creates the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\E8E89A47387F2B9479BD056894BC59F9
and when i introduce a custom action in installscript it creates the key under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-21-93520354-3938256054-1871316872-500\Products\E8E89A47387F2B9479BD056894BC59F9

I couldnt understand the reason for using S-1-5-21-...-500 instead of S-1-5-18 when a custom action is used.
Could anyone please help me because I need the custom action in installscript and i need it to be under the key S-1-5-18 .

The key S-1-5-18 is for the LocalSystem Account on your machine.
I think S-1-5-21-93520354-3938256054-1871316872-500 this is the HKCU Account.
