Hi,

I am facing a very annoying problem.
I am using InstallShield Developer 8.02. My project is a Basic MSI project.

I could summerize it like that :

Base 1.0 authored to install the original main installation (which was released).
Base 1.0 project used as base to author patch 1.1 >> installs successfully
Patch 1.1 project used as base to author patch 1.2 >> installs successfully
Patch 1.2 project used as base to author patch 1.3 >> installs successfully
Patch 1.3 project used as base to author minor upgrade 1.4 ===>>> error 1334

what is strange is that I get this 1334 error when I am using this minor upgrade to upgrade any of the scenrios when one of our patch was applied on the original 1.0 version.
More over - the Windows Installer service seems to run an old version of my InstallScript code (not the new one that comes with my minor upgrade setup)

These 2 problems (the 1334 error + using old cached version of my InstallScript code) does not appear when I run my minor upgrade on a machine that has only the original 1.0 version on it.

What could be causing this problems ?
I am helpless here.
None of the documentation on the InstallShield KB site helped me or was relevant for me.

Are you using any transforms in your setup? And you have added the v flag to REINSTALLMODE?

Hi,

I do not use any transforms in my setup.
From the log files of the installation, I see that the Setup.exe automatically sets the REINSTALLMODE to "vomus".

Would it be helpful if I attach the 2 installation log files (one which is successfuly installed, on top of the original version with no patch, and the other which is for the failed installation) for examination ?

Thanks,

Igal

Well, The 2 files (even when zipped) are almost 950 KB in size (and the forum does not allow me upload files larger then 100 KB. sad.gif )

If anyone is interested to take a look at the logs, I will be most thankful to send it to him by Email.
Or if you are interested in certain parts/lines from the log - I can post them here.

There is a tool called WiLogUtl.exe that you can use to analyze the log file. You can download this tool with the platform SDK, or I can send it to you.

Well, he is the output of WiLogUtl.exe for the log file which was failed to install (although from this output there is no much info to retrieve, I think)

Hope it does help.
