I have a situation where my installation completely freaked out and doesn't let me install or uninstall.

Microsoft has the utility called "Windows Installer Cleanup Utility" which can be used with Windows Installer version earlier than 2.0. I have a later version of Windows Installer, so I cannot use the utility.

Any ideas? How can I remove the installation manually?

You can replace the cached msi on the system with a fixed one.

Try to find out what problem you project has, and either edit the cached msi with orca or install shield etc so that it will uninstall correctly.

Winnt\system32\installer

should have the cached msi files.
