I just upgraded and am upgrading an old installer.
The problem is that if I run the installer on a system that had the product installed with the 6.12 version of the installer, it wont recognize the old installation and will try to do a clean install instead of a modify install.
I have changed product code, package code AND the upgrade code to all be the GUID from the uninstall Setup in the hidden "InstallShield Installation Information" folder.  None of then do the trick.

Any suggestions?

Get the uninstall command for the old version from registry and execute it in a custom action.
The underlying thechnology in IS6 and IS7 is completely different. Product code, upgarde code etc. only work for Windows Installer technology, which ISD7 uses, but IS6 doesn't.
