Hello!

My main installation sets anothers msi-packet by CA 23 and removes one by CA
39.
But main installation's shortcuts are not displayed correctly in StartMenu.
If I remove nested CA all works fine.

Where is my mistake?

Many thanks

Please log the details of the Installation.

msiexec /I <*.msc> /Lv* mylog.txt

This should give you some info why the shortcuts are not installed.

Hi,
couldn't read the characters in the log file. Found few things though. The FileName is not defined in the shortcut log. Probably the Target in your shortcut table is wrong. Or the component you are defining in the shortcut is already deleted.

Check if you have the same component ID in the other msi files.

The short cut log i got looked like

Name=test,,,FileName=<path>,,WorkingDir=<dir>,Icon=component.ID,IconIndex=0,,showCmd=1,Description=<bla bla>

Where are you executing the nested MSI file from? The Execute sequence? the User interface sequence?

Here is a sample setup with the same problems:
Main installation's shortcuts are not displayed correctly in StartMenu.

One more bug:
After remove Main application Installer don't deletes
C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{571AE318-1B98-4781-BF94-B6F38EB18AD8} Folder
on computer.

Please help me understand my mistake. blink.gif
Many thanks...

Try the Shortcut table Target to be

[INSTALLDIR]readme.txt

This works fine for me.

Setting the Target field of the Shortcut table to [INSTALLDIR]readme.txt doesn't work. There is the same result.

The Main.msi has ProductCode = {9E6A8D26-8875-4EAC-80B0-EACC61644004}
Installer doesn't make the
C:\WINDOWS\Installer\{9E6A8D26-8875-4EAC-80B0-EACC61644004}
folder. Why??? blink.gif

When I try to change icon for Main application shortcut the message has been displayed (see Attachment)

Please anybody help me blink.gif
