Retrieving value of %HOMEDRIVE% with

I am trying to get the actual values of %HOMEDRIVE% and %HOMEPATH% with the InstallScript function GetEnvVar. The function always returns an empty string, but the when I look at the environment in a DOS Box the variables are set.
Is there any other possibilty to get the values of this variables during an installation ?
