I am using InstallShield on a Windows 2000 machine. The help->about gives
"InstallShield for Microsoft Visual C++ 6 (Build-130)".

After I build an install, running the setup gives me two problems. First, immediately
after the "Build->Run Setup" , I get a warning:
"One or more data elements have been modified that may not be included in the existing media. You may need to rebuild the media in order to incorporate the changes"
This warning appears even if I have just completed a build.

Next, after running through the normal setup dialogs, the error -145 is returned
from the ComponentMoveData function. Various changes of removing components
and file groups may get rid of the error but it seems to reoccur.

Any hints on the base cause of this error??

Please try to built a new media to see if that fixed the problem. Also make sure you are logged on as Administrator, and try to disable your virus scanner.
"InstallShield for Microsoft Visual C++ 6" is a limited edition of InstallShield Professional 5, i.e. very old (it was released in the time when Windows 95 and NT4 were the latest Windows versions). The current version is 10.5. Therefore you may experience problems on "new" operating systems like Windows 2000 and above.
