I'm constantly getting the following device installer error: "Windows could not load the installer for volume. Contact your hardware vendor for assistance." My hardware vendor (Dell) has been no help. It's probably a quick and simple fix for you at Installsite.org, but it's way over my head because I've spent days trying to find a solution for this on the Internet, including Microsoft's website, to no avail. Can anyone tell me how to fix this, hopefully short of reinstalling Windows XP?

It doesn't look like this error message is coming from Windows Installer (MSI). Note that we are not talking about installing Windows (zthe operating system) here, but about creating setup packages to install applications on Windows.
