Hello!

in normal case, when files are installed with WI, the creation date gets the value of the modification date ( it seam so to be ).
That's fine, the next setup gets the impression, the file is the original file, not modified.

On Windows Server 2003 with WI 2.0.3790 on a UNC path as target, the creation date of the installed file remains and the modification date of the file gets the current installation date.
The next setup gets the impression, that the file is modified and acts in that way.

What's wrong? Is there a flag where ever?

Thanks in advance!!!
Johannes

This sounds like a bug in the engine. Did you check it with Microsoft?

Thanks for your reply!

Yes, it looks like a bug of the engine, because on the other OS, this bug doesn't occure.

What's the best way to check this with MS? Can you give me a hint?

Thanks!
Johannes

Hello Stefan,

my urgent request goes to Stefan Krüger:

do you have heard about this problem?
do you can confirm this problem?
does probably WI 3.0 can solve this problem? ( but just not available as redistributable )?
what's the best way to contact MS for this problem?

The delivery team says: We can't deliver the next release, if we don't get this problem to an end!

Thanks for any help!
Johannes

Johannes,

I haven't heard of this problem before. If you have a support contract with Microsoft (MSDN subscriptions often include a limited number of support incidents, see http://msdn.microsof...pport/technical) that would probably be the fastest way. You can also post your problem in the platformsdk.msi newsgroup which is monitored by Microsoft. Again, if you are a MSDN subscriber you can register your newsgroup posting e-mail address with them, which guarantees you 48 hour (?) support in such monitored newsgroups (see http://msdn.microsof...sgroups/managed).
Otherwise you can contact Microsoft here:
