Have anyone had a chance to read "The Definitive Guide to Windows Installer :
by Phil Wilson"? http://www.amazon.co...SIN/1590592972/

I am wondering what it is like. Not sure if I am in the mood for another windows installer book unless it is very good.

Yes I'm curious too. Do you know if he covers MSI 3.0?

I have read "The Definitive Guide to Windows Installer " by Darwin Sanoy and Jeremy Moskowitz www.realtimepublishers.com

Is this comprehensive enough, or Whilson's book have more helpful information?

I suppose, identical titles not always point to identical contents.
Sincerely your,

I've been using Bob Baker's "Official InstallShield for Windows Installer" for a while now and recently got Phil Wilson's book as a "next step / other ideas".

Other than Phil's book covers .Net quite well as a book for an introduction to MSI its (in my point of view) poor. It doesnt really cover the msi api's that well, and the relationship between the tables is hardly touched upon. Bob Baker's book might be a bit old now (ie no .NET) but it is more comprehensive and more informative to how MSI fits together

I've been using The Definitive Guide to Windows Installer, by Phil Wilson for the last few months. It's better than nothing, but I wouldn't recommend it. I need more specifics and straight forward examples, which are not there.

Can I ask what kind of samples you need, and what specifics?
