Does anyone have any suggestions as to what would cause this error?

I'm attempting to create and install a patch, but I keep getting Internal Error 2203. I see from the Windows Install SDK that it means the database can't be opened, but no info as to why.

Hi,
had the same problem. After creating a verbose log with switch "setup.exe /L*V c:\temp\instlog_verbose.txt" the solution appered. Reason was that we installed a servicde pack and then deleted the directory. Worked well as long as no error occured or nothing was to reinstall.
Solution: unpack the patch in the directory named in instlog_verbose.txt and retry.
