We distribute an application that uses MDAC 2.5. The MDAC 2.5 redistribution does contain the MS Jet files, but MDAC 2.6 and higher don't.
For example on a Windows 98 system with MDAC 2.6 or higher already installed, there may or may not be Jet 4.0 installed. How can I determine which version of Jet is installed?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Yeah, IMHO that was yet another bonehead move by Microsoft.
In any case, I did a little searching on the 'Net, but couldn't find anything to identify Jet 4.0.
However, I know for starters you can make sure msjet40.dll exists in the SYSTEM32 directory. Plus, since Windows 2000 already ships with this edition of Jet, I can also assure you that it also should have a file version of 4.0.4431.3.
Hope it helps.

Thank you!
Yes, I think I'll have to look for this dll and maybe one or two others.
It's basically the same for the MDAC version; you have to retrieve the version of msado15.dll. That's described in an article on this site.
