When packaging Unix components with IS 11, is it done from the Unix console, or is IS11 installed on a client PC and accesses the Unix files to be packaged through an emulator or something ?

For the InstallScript project type you need to install the InstallShield IDE on Windows. However for the Universal project type (which you are probably using, despite the fact that you are posting in the InstallScript forum) you can install the InstallShield IDE on Unix.
