Hello,
I have a product with five features A,B,C,D,E. One of these features(A) results in the creation of a database in SQL Server. As part of fresh installation of the product, i installed C,D,E. Now i create a patch for this version which allows me to update to the latest version of the product. However during the update the patch is detecting that feature A has also been installed and is trying to patch it. This is blocking my install as the pre-checker associated with feature A is reporting a failure. Ideally the feature A should never have been detected as it has not been installed.
Questions:
What are the possible causes for such a behaviour?
What more can i diagnose?
Any help would be very much appreciated.

What type of upgdate is this: Minor or Major (did you change the ProductCode)?
What does the log say about the instalaltion status of this feature (log the first time install and the upgrade)?
Does feature A have any components?
