Can someone tell me when or what is the reason why the TEMP and TMP environment variables are sometimes defined under the key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Volatile Environment\<SessionID>'?

Some of our windows 2008 systems(I've seen this only occuring on windows 2008 OS) have these environment variables (also) defined under this key. These variables have priority over the TEMP and TMP variable defined under the key 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Environment'.

I don't find anything on the Internet that explains me when these envvars are created under this key and why?

I don't know. But does [%TEMP] and [%TMP] give you the desired values?
