Hi,
I'm using Installshield 2010 and want to change an included msi setup from nested to chained msi.
I'm facing an error 1920 while doing the chained msi saying: 'Error 1920. Service xy failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.'
This happens in Vista and Win7 but in XP it works fine.
What can I do to get the necessary privileges for the chained msi that it's possible to start the service inside it.
I can't change the chained msi because we are getting it from an extern partner as is.
Hope someone knows a solution or a work around.
The other thing is that I have also not the privilege to remove the software inside the control panel with Add/Remove. The part of the chained or also nested msi is still there after the deinstallation.
I found a way to deinstall also the nested msi by calling a batch file with following content:
START /MIN elevate msiexec.exe /x {GUID} REMOVE=ALL
Is there a better way to deinstall the nested msi?
Thanks in advance.
Tom
