Hi,
I want several checks to be performed on target machine before the actual installation starts like "MS Office Version", "Message Queuing service" (installed and running), "MDAC version" installed etc.
Reading regsitry through a custom action seems to be an easy way but installation of XP and then its removal leaves traces in the regsitry which are detected even when XP is not present.
I don't think installer service provides methods for any of these checks.
Any help on these topics would be highly appreciated.
Thanks and Regards,
Akshay Arora.

You could look for the actual files.
You could even try to load an Office object using automation.
