I am trying now to launch an executable through a CA, with the -s passed into the target field, but it still shows me the UI?

That depends on the executable... Run your.exe /? most programs will tell you the available parameters. /q is common for silent execution.

thanks, but running
> jre-1.3.1.exe /?
Just ignores the params and begins running the .exe
I thought maybe I could create a ISS RESPONSE file, using an aritcle I found in groups.google.com as a guide, but since jre ignores parameters, it ignores the -r parameter, also.
Uh-oh! If I could get this thing to install silently it would save me a lot of problems! thanks, though!

Check with the creator of jre-1.3.1.exe . Maybe they have a readme file or knowledge base about how to run t in silent mode.
