How do I update the status line in the SetupProgress dialog to show the status of current custom actions?

Use Power Editor to look at the ActionText table.

I have the same problem.
What is the Power Editor and where can I get/purchase it ?

The power editor only allows for basic updating of the status bar text. It is available under advanced views in IPWI 2.x, it is called the direct editor in Developer 7.
