Hi,
I have read some where in MSI 3.0 that the patch installation does not require source media.
I think this is applicable for only whole file patching and not when binary patching is used.
Please let us know if above statement is correct.

No, thats wrong. With V3, the installer infrastructure use a patch uninstall cache for caching baseline files, if the patch is a patch V3 (included Table MsiPatchSequence). In this case, Msi looks first in apllication folder and then in patch uninstall cache for a patchable file. I Msi didn't found a valid file, it must access the source.
